This Santa Barbara Engagement Shoot took place at the famous Knapps Castle! Knapps Castle is a popular destination among locals and tourists alike. Its about a 40 minute drive North of Santa Barbara into the Los Padres National Forest. Then about a 1 mile walk out to the structures. Many people climb all over the structures to capture incredible views, or create some fun silhouettes.
Unfortunately, I am not sure how much longer Knapps Castle will be open to the public, as they are building a house on the premises. I am so thankful that we were able to shoot there before it’s likely closed down! It has always been on our list. The views are breathtaking as you can see in the photos below.
I think these two were a little bit nervous before the shoot and as the shoot began, but we were able to quickly connect with them, help them loosen up a bit, and get great photos. The engagement shoot is a celebration two people making a lifelong commitment, and sort of a kick-off to the wedding festivities. Its always fun to celebrate this journey with each of our couples.
I loved her flow-y knee length red dress. Flow-y is always a good idea for engagement shoots as it creates some dimension in photos, especially if its windy! I found a similar one to Angelina’s here.
This is the dreamy golden light that every photographers Loves! Most engagement shoots happen in the last 1-2 hours of daylight, called golden hour!
Not gonna lie, these walls were a little sketchy to walk on, but, like all of our couples, they were up for the adventure. Also, they trusted us that the climb would be worth the awesome photos! What do you think? Would you do it? haha!
