6 Ideas to Make Your Wedding Unique
We see a lot of weddings! And we love it! Which puts us in an advantageous situation to pass along all of our knowledge that we have gained over the years. For many of our couples, this is the first time they are getting married and going through the wedding planning process. So understandably, they have a lot of questions, and we have a lot of answers! With all of the weddings we photograph, its really fun when someone does something different. So I have written a blog post about how to make your wedding unique, using our past couples as inspiration!
1. Get A Custom Wedding Dress
We’ve now had 2 brides that have worn beautiful handmade gowns. Lorena’s 2-piece gown was made by her mother. Helen made her own gown, custom fit to include the bun in the oven 🙂

2. Serve Your Guests
Lizzie and Adam chose to serve their guests dessert instead of doing a receiving line or visiting tables. This gave them a chance to see everybody, and they liked the idea of serving their guests, the people that supported them all of their life, and will continue to support them in their marriage.

3. Hire A Live Band
Okay, so this is not that unique of an idea, but we have photographed a few receptions with live bands and it has been so fun! They bring a different level of energy and entertainment to the party, and for those guests that don’t want to dance, they get to see a concert!

4. Include Unique and Meaningful Events
Some couples choose to pray together before the ceremony, even if they didn’t do a first look.Â
Sherry and Vay chose to do a foot washing ceremony to signify entering into marriage with servanthood and humility. It was a beautiful and quiet moment between them.

5. Get Creative With the Food
Your guests will love the variety and uniqueness. If you’re not a big fan of cake, serve donuts for dessert or have a cake made of cheese! Don’t like traditional dinner meals? Serve breakfast for dinner instead!

6. Step Out of Your Comfort Zone.Â
Don’t be afraid to climb the mountain, cross the river, or trek through the grass. It may just be your favorite photo and favorite memory of the day! Your dress may get dirty, bugs and foliage may cling to you, but it will all be worth it when your photographer captures awesome photos that remind you of all the adventures and fun and  you had on your wedding day! Trust your photographer!
